Just like the fanny bag, tourist merchandise is a controversial subject in fashion. T-shirts with city names reveal the outsider in you. And, of course, fashion is made by insiders.
So, leave it to Colette to turn the undesirable to must-have item of the season. The store got together with Silas Adler, designer of menswear brand Soulland, to release a limited a limited Spring/Summer collection. The Danish designer united his love for Paris with his skateboarding interest to create pieces that can be described as tourist merch skatewear.
Obviously Paris has lot of iconic places that could be featured in this collection, but the Danish designer focused mainly on the Jardins des Tuileries. Although you can’t skate on the park, Adler can’t help but dream.
Let’s see if this trend catches on womenswear.
