Last fashion week, Style.com said designer Emilia Wickstead was having a moment. It appears to be so. First, the New Zealand and London-based designer was chosen to launch Moda Operandi’s London trunkshow. And, now, Wickstead pieces have been popping up in every red carpet.
Like many others London designers, Emilia is a Central Saint Martins alumni who made her way to London Fashion Week in 2009. Different from most red carpet designer, the pieces that have been seen are not sparkling or over-sensualize. On the contrary, they are clean cut pieces that breath normcore and transpire chic minimalism.
If she keeps up like this, in no Emilia will achieve Stella McCartney and Phoebe Philo status.
